(NEW) Single Receiver GPS Precise Positioning (NEW)

How would you like it if someone could step onto your airplane with a simple hand-held device and -- in less than 2 hours -- produce high precision, professional publishing quality takeoff and landing performance charts for your flight manual supplement or pilot operating handbook?

Here's how it can be done...

For the last decade, differential GPS has been the flight test standard for measuring takeoff and landing distances.  This is how the major aircraft manufacturers do it, but it has always been hampered by the requirement for setting up a base station at a known, surveyed position and installing complicated, expensive and sometimes unreliable telemetry equipment on your airplane.

Approved by the Airworthiness Authorities in 2004 for collecting aircraft position data for certification, we are now offering a low cost single receiver GPS package that is capable of achieving centimeter to decimeter accuracy in both horizontal and vertical position.

Applications include:

  • Takeoff performance
  • Landing performance
  • Braking performance
  • Vmcg runway centerline deviation
  • Ground and in-flight position error determination
  • RVSM

This solution completely eliminates the requirement for a base station and expensive post-processing software.

There is no telemetry requirement and test repeats due to telemetry dropouts are a thing of the past.

The system employs a receiver with data logging capability in one package with minimal equipment installation requirements -- so we can literally show up at your site, walk onto the airplane and begin testing immediately.

Ultra-low cost is achieved by utilizing the existing publicly available GPS infrastructure and open-source software.

And the best thing is -- we can do it for you OR show you how to do it yourself in the fastest time and at the least expense possible.

Acoustics & Noise Levels

FAR 36 Appendix G Small & Propeller-Driven Airplane Noise Measurements

FAR 36 Appendix G noise level measurements, test witnessing, data analysisBeginning in 2004, we have expanded our already extensive capabilities to include small and propeller-driven airplane noise testing and evaluation.  A powerful combination.  The result?  Combined with our aircraft performance, flight characteristics, systems performance, instrumentation, and real-time data acquisition capabilities, we now offer a one-stop FAR 23 airplane flight test solution for your new, modified, or special missions aircraft certification program.

Free determination of acoustical change

Are you worried that the change that you've made to your airplane might affect noise levels and compromise certification?  Contact us for your FREE project noise level analysis.  In one hour or less, we can tell you whether or not noise testing will be required.  If your airplane has previously certificated noise levels, we can tell you - with a high degree of certainty - whether or not your modified airplane will exceed the allowable noise levels.  Regardless, we can always make specific recommendations about how you can reduce perceived noise levels and achieve airworthiness approval -- on time and on cost.

To the Rescue

In 2003, we had a customer with a highly successful seaplane product in Canada who had applied for FAA approval in the United States.  Seaplanes and amphibians are exempt from demonstrating compliance with the international ICAO noise requirements.  But in the U.S., ALL airplanes must meet the FAR 36 noise requirements to get airworthiness approval.  The stakes were high -- with hundreds of thousands of dollars on the line.  One week later, we had completed the noise testing and had FAA-approved noise levels for his airplane!

We are now offering the following services, supported by the same high quality customer support and dedication we are well known for:

  • Determination of acoustical change
  • Test planning and management
  • Reference flight profile determination
  • Instrument calibrations -- traceable to NIST standards
  • Calibrated and certificated noise measuring equipment rental
  • Noise level measurements
  • Test witnessing
  • Data analysis and corrections
  • Certification flight test reporting

If you make a change to your airplane that affects any of the following things, you are probably required to demonstrate compliance with the noise levels specified in FAR 36 Appendix G or ICAO Annex 16 Volume 1 Chapter 10:

  • Increase takeoff distance
  • Reduce climb gradient or rate-of-climb
  • Increase engine power or thrust
  • Larger diameter propeller
  • Change maximum continuous or maximum takeoff propeller RPM

Known for our friendly and efficient flight test engineering support team, we are standing ready to help you with any flight test services your project requires.  Contact us today to find out how we can help you satisfy your small and propeller-driven airplane acoustics needs.
