(NEW) Single Receiver GPS Precise Positioning (NEW)

How would you like it if someone could step onto your airplane with a simple hand-held device and -- in less than 2 hours -- produce high precision, professional publishing quality takeoff and landing performance charts for your flight manual supplement or pilot operating handbook?

Here's how it can be done...

For the last decade, differential GPS has been the flight test standard for measuring takeoff and landing distances.  This is how the major aircraft manufacturers do it, but it has always been hampered by the requirement for setting up a base station at a known, surveyed position and installing complicated, expensive and sometimes unreliable telemetry equipment on your airplane.

Approved by the Airworthiness Authorities in 2004 for collecting aircraft position data for certification, we are now offering a low cost single receiver GPS package that is capable of achieving centimeter to decimeter accuracy in both horizontal and vertical position.

Applications include:

  • Takeoff performance
  • Landing performance
  • Braking performance
  • Vmcg runway centerline deviation
  • Ground and in-flight position error determination
  • RVSM

This solution completely eliminates the requirement for a base station and expensive post-processing software.

There is no telemetry requirement and test repeats due to telemetry dropouts are a thing of the past.

The system employs a receiver with data logging capability in one package with minimal equipment installation requirements -- so we can literally show up at your site, walk onto the airplane and begin testing immediately.

Ultra-low cost is achieved by utilizing the existing publicly available GPS infrastructure and open-source software.

And the best thing is -- we can do it for you OR show you how to do it yourself in the fastest time and at the least expense possible.

Flight Characteristics, Handling Qualities & Stability and Control

Envelope expansion and flight characteristics assessments

With direct access to delegated FAA DER and Transport Canada DAR engineering test pilots and flight test engineers, we offer a complete fixed wing aircraft flight characteristics, handling qualities, and stability and control assessment package.

With literally thousands of hours of flight test time on over 180 aircraft types -- including single engine reciprocating aircraft, single and multi-engine turboprops, large jet transports, seaplanes and amphibians, fire fighting aircraft (air tankers), civil and military special missions aircraft, and FAR 23 restricted category aircraft -- we feel that our flight test team is among the best in the industry.

We are capable of carrying out FAR 23 and FAR 25 qualitative and quantitative flight characteristics assessments and engineering approvals in the following areas:

  • Controllability and maneuverability
  • Flight control force assessments
  • Longitudinal control
  • Directional and lateral control
  • Ground and in-flight static and dynamic minimum control speed determination
  • Elevator control force in maneuvers (stick-force-per-g)
  • Rate of roll
  • Lateral, directional, and longitudinal trim
  • Static and dynamic longitudinal stability
  • Static and dynamic lateral-directional stability
  • Wings level, turning, and accelerated turning stall characteristics
  • Stall warning speed margin assessments
  • Stick shaker and pusher settings
  • Spin characteristics - including abused control entries
  • Control during landings
  • Ground and water handling characteristics
  • Crosswind takeoff and landing characteristics
  • Vibration and buffeting
  • High speed characteristics
  • Out-of-trim characteristics
  • Affect of control system failures on airplane handling qualities

Having developed our proven-effective and safe flight envelope expansion techniques over many flight test programs, we can rapidly expand the flight envelope of any conventional fixed wing airplane and identify potential problems early.  Our team has the knowledge and capability to effectively address the most common flight characteristics problems to ensure that your airplane will be safe, meet its mission requirements, and satisfy the airworthiness standards.
