(NEW) Single Receiver GPS Precise Positioning (NEW)

How would you like it if someone could step onto your airplane with a simple hand-held device and -- in less than 2 hours -- produce high precision, professional publishing quality takeoff and landing performance charts for your flight manual supplement or pilot operating handbook?

Here's how it can be done...

For the last decade, differential GPS has been the flight test standard for measuring takeoff and landing distances.  This is how the major aircraft manufacturers do it, but it has always been hampered by the requirement for setting up a base station at a known, surveyed position and installing complicated, expensive and sometimes unreliable telemetry equipment on your airplane.

Approved by the Airworthiness Authorities in 2004 for collecting aircraft position data for certification, we are now offering a low cost single receiver GPS package that is capable of achieving centimeter to decimeter accuracy in both horizontal and vertical position.

Applications include:

  • Takeoff performance
  • Landing performance
  • Braking performance
  • Vmcg runway centerline deviation
  • Ground and in-flight position error determination
  • RVSM

This solution completely eliminates the requirement for a base station and expensive post-processing software.

There is no telemetry requirement and test repeats due to telemetry dropouts are a thing of the past.

The system employs a receiver with data logging capability in one package with minimal equipment installation requirements -- so we can literally show up at your site, walk onto the airplane and begin testing immediately.

Ultra-low cost is achieved by utilizing the existing publicly available GPS infrastructure and open-source software.

And the best thing is -- we can do it for you OR show you how to do it yourself in the fastest time and at the least expense possible.

Precise Aircraft Positioning

Single-receiver GPS positioning makes the mark for certification flight testing

Approved by the airworthiness authorities in 2004 for FAR 23 aircraft certification flight testing, our proprietary single-receiver GPS system is immediately available to help you measure your airplane's takeoff and landing performance.

Other applications include:

  • Accelerate-stop distance measurement for commuter or transport category airplanes
  • Braking performance
  • Vmcg runway centerline deviation
  • Ground position error determination
  • In-flight airspeed and altitude position error determination
  • Virtually any aircraft certification or research activity that requires measuring position, velocity, or acceleration

Utilizing a single high-end GPS receiver with internal data logging capability and antenna with multipath elimination technology -- along with open source post processing software -- enables us to offer unparalleled position measuring accuracy at minimal cost.  Expected accuracy is in the centimeter-to-decimeter range both horizontally and vertically -- potentially more accurate that real-time DGPS!

Installation and operation is quick and easy.  With our tried and true long-time philosophy of keeping things simple, we have ensured with this elegant solution that any high school student could operate our equipment and get great results with 5 minutes of training.

There is currently an effort underway to qualify the system for FAR 25 transport category certification flight testing and RVSM certification.  Transport Canada and FAA approval is expected by the end of 2004.

If you want to get rid of your complicated microwave distance measuring equipment or your second GPS receiver -- and avoid the hassle and cost of surveying in a base station and enabling telemetry for real-time differential GPS -- give us a call to talk more about what our single receiver GPS package can do to simplify and expedite your aircraft performance certification flight testing.
