(NEW) Single Receiver GPS Precise Positioning (NEW)

How would you like it if someone could step onto your airplane with a simple hand-held device and -- in less than 2 hours -- produce high precision, professional publishing quality takeoff and landing performance charts for your flight manual supplement or pilot operating handbook?

Here's how it can be done...

For the last decade, differential GPS has been the flight test standard for measuring takeoff and landing distances.  This is how the major aircraft manufacturers do it, but it has always been hampered by the requirement for setting up a base station at a known, surveyed position and installing complicated, expensive and sometimes unreliable telemetry equipment on your airplane.

Approved by the Airworthiness Authorities in 2004 for collecting aircraft position data for certification, we are now offering a low cost single receiver GPS package that is capable of achieving centimeter to decimeter accuracy in both horizontal and vertical position.

Applications include:

  • Takeoff performance
  • Landing performance
  • Braking performance
  • Vmcg runway centerline deviation
  • Ground and in-flight position error determination
  • RVSM

This solution completely eliminates the requirement for a base station and expensive post-processing software.

There is no telemetry requirement and test repeats due to telemetry dropouts are a thing of the past.

The system employs a receiver with data logging capability in one package with minimal equipment installation requirements -- so we can literally show up at your site, walk onto the airplane and begin testing immediately.

Ultra-low cost is achieved by utilizing the existing publicly available GPS infrastructure and open-source software.

And the best thing is -- we can do it for you OR show you how to do it yourself in the fastest time and at the least expense possible.

Aircraft Systems In-Flight Evaluations

With significant experience in aircraft systems development and flight testing, our formally trained engineering test pilot and flight test engineer staff are standing ready to assist with your systems ground or in-flight evaluation needs.

We have aircraft systems evaluation capabilities in the following specialty areas:

  • Flight control systems assessments and evaluation of relationship of primary and secondary flight control position and rate of motion to flight characteristics, handle qualities, and stability and control
  • Effect of single flight control system failures
  • Stability augmentation and automatic and power-operated systems
  • Trim systems - including the effect of powered trim system runaway
  • Artificial stall barrier systems
  • Brake system kinetic energy absorption capacity
  • Anti-skid system
  • Pressurization and environmental control system (ECS) performance
  • Powerplant operating procedures development
  • Reciprocating, turboprop, turbojet, and turbofan powerplant operating characteristics evaluations
  • Powerplant cooling test design, data collection and correction to standard "hot" day conditions
  • Powerplant reversing systems
  • Installed power and thrust determination
  • Propeller vibration surveys
  • Fuel system hot weather operation
  • Unusable fuel determination
  • Overspeed warning
  • Airspeed indicating system - including the effect of lag/latency on indicated airspeed
  • Altitude indicating system calibration
  • Individual aircraft RVSM certification and compliance demonstration (not group certification)
  • Automatic pilot system tracking performance and mode development
  • Autothrottle system performance
  • Flight director guidance development and certification
  • Autopilot system failures - including the effect of hardovers and determination of minimum engage and disengage heights
  • CAT II approach certification
  • Head-up display symbology development and integration with existing avionics
  • Flight management system (FMS) evaluations
  • Natural icing evaluations and anti-ice system performance
  • Electrical system characteristics - including the use of loadbanks
  • Human factors - cockpit layout evaluations, night lighting
  • Flutter - ground vibration surveys and in-flight freedom from flutter verification

Combined with our aircraft performance and flight characteristics capability, this makes Baker Aviation Services the perfect choice to meet your aircraft flight test and evaluation requirements while minimizing the need to contract other engineering specialists to support your program.

Contact Us today to find out how we can help you determine your aircraft systems testing requirements - and design a customized test program to meet your test and evaluation needs.
